I am so excited to kick off my fourth year of teaching at International School Riau. I couldn’t ask for a better placement for my first international teaching experience! Prior to teaching at ISR, I taught first, second, and third grade in St. Paul, Minnesota for 15 years. Minnesota proved to be way too cold for me, though, and I much prefer our weather here in the jungle! Although my husband, Barry, agrees that this tropical heat is a welcomed change, our two daughters claim to miss the snow. Isabelle and Sophie think they’d rather be sledding, ice skating, and making snowmen, but I’m not about to give up my year-round evening walks, tennis games, and bike rides to go back to shoveling snow! What my family all agrees on, is that Rumbai is a wonderful community to live and ISR is a superb school to attend! I am confident that we are going to have another wonderful school year.
