With ubiquitous access to technology at ISR, we have an opportunity to provide our students with a means to become authors and expressive communicators.  This provides a powerful opportunity to support the literacy development process in young readers and writers.

We are excited to launch our new Write Now! initiative at the International Schools of Riau!  Over the course of the next few months our Rumbai and Duri campus intend to add over 200 new student generated titles to our ISR iBook Library at http://rumbailibrary.isriau.org/ibooks

Using the app Book Creator, and an iPad, students author their eBook with text, images, videos, and their voice.  What can be more exciting than to see your finished creation on your iPad?  How about seeing your classmates or parents reading it on theirs?!

To create an extensive digital library of iBooks, written by and for children and published/available on the ISR Library download portal.

To ignite a wave of excitement in empowering the writing, access and reading of e-books for children and young adults.

Strategic Goal

To establish models for:

  • Training students and teachers in the skills for writing e-books
  • Publishing and distributing e-books
  • Build communities of writers
  • Celebrating student writing, e.g. Writers’ Festivals

So hop on your iPad, launch the Safari web browser and head over to our digital library http://rumbailibrary.isriau.org/ibooks to see what our students have already begun to create.  Don’t have an iPad?  Download Kitabu (https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/42058/kitabu) to read and listen to the books.  Be sure to check back often as we are continually adding to the collection!
