Back to School Night

I want to thank all of you parents for the great turn out to Back to School Night. Thank you teachers for your informative presentations. We have had an unusual start to our school year but by pulling together we - the parents, the teachers, and the national staff - have created a positive and dynamic learning environment for our students.

MAP Testing

Congratulations to all of our students, Kindergarten through eighth grade for completing their MAP tests this week. The students worked with great care, checking their work, to do their best on the tests. Thank you parents for ensuring that your children were well rested and nourished to write the tests.

The results of the tests will be available within a week’s time. Teachers will be using the test results to adapt instruction to meet the individual needs of our students.

Professional Development Focus on Mathematics - Mrs. Davis

On September 12th and 13th ISR will welcome Steve Leinwand, an educational mathematics specialist. Steve will guide the math teachers through two days of professional development focused on math instruction using the new Common Core math standards. He will be facilitating three 2-hour sessions each day for teachers. We are looking forward the opportunity to learn more about the new standards and to focus on how to best incorporate them into our math program here at ISR.

Indonesia independence Day

This weekend, a CPI committee has put together a program to celebrate Indonesia’s Independence Day. The expat community has been invited to participate in the Carnaval Parade.

If you are not participating, you can watch the parade which will begin at the Catholic Church parking lot at 3:00 pm. It will end at the Gelora Gym, by the Bowling Alley.

A special feature of the parade is the “Reog Ponorogo”, a traditional dance of East Java which is noted for its extravagant costumes.

Come out to watch the parade and to support our Indonesian friends!!!
