Renovation and Relocation This week we were busy relocating our classrooms to the teachers’ homes in Meranti for the remaining week of school. The contractor got ahead of schedule in the demolition process, creating a threat to the air quality in the main school building. We are still able to use the Preschool and Performing Arts buildings. The main office personnel, the technology team and Pak Bobby from the Library have all joined me at 121 Meranti, which will serve as the administrative hub until further notice.I wish to thank Terrence Sullivan, Lindsay Lavery, and Scott Neal for their wisdom in assessing the school safety situation. Also, a huge thank you to Laura Neal, who has volunteered to act as the on site supervisor of the renovation project this summer. Rumbai’s Got Talent Congratulations to all of the students who participated in the talent show! I wish to also acknowledge and thank Mrs. Melanie Hill, Mr. van Staden and Ibu Renai for organizing this outstanding event. The talent show is an opportunity for our students to be risk-takers as expressive communicators, thinkers and problem solvers, as well as self directed learners. It is always a thrill to see students come out of nowhere to demonstrate hidden talents, and of course to see some of our superstars whose fame precedes them. A Special Rumbai’s Got Talent Edition will reach you this weekend! Congratulations to Ben Van Wagoner! We hope that you can all come out to celebrate Benjamin Van Wagoner’s eighth grade graduation. This milestone in any young man’s life is even more significant at ISR, where it means moving on from the Rumbai family to a larger world of increased opportunities. Ben has been a great role model for younger students and a great friend to his peers. We wish him all the best as he begins his high school career in Perth, Australia. |
