International Schools Riau is comprised of two schools roughly 60 miles apart located in Rumbai and Duri, Indonesia, on the Island of Sumatra. Rumbai's campus is within 20 minutes of Pekanbaru, the capital of Riau province. The diversity of our school community is rich, serving about 130 expatriate children in preschool through grade eight - 80 in Duri and 50 in Rumbai. International Schools Riau is managed by International School Services of Princeton, New Jersey, for CHEVRON Corporation. The school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The curriculum is aligned with North American standards and is typical of curriculum used in the United States and other American international schools around the world. The mathematics program is developed to support the Common Core State Standards. Our Language Arts and Social Studies program is also aligned with Common Core standards. The Science curriculum is aligned with Next Generation standards rich in content and practice, arranged in a coherent manner across disciplines and grades to provide all students an internationally benchmarked science education. Special area teachers teach art, music, technology, Indonesian studies, Spanish and physical education which includes swimming instruction as part of the curriculum. |
