Hi Middle School parents,
Hot on the heels of an exciting Middle School Exchange we thought we should get the information out for this year's Middle School Trip in early May.
Please find attached a parent letter with most of the information you should need, as well as a .pdf which goes into greater detail on the trip itself.
Hopefully we will be able to answer most questions you may have at the meeting scheduled for: - Wednesday November the 26th
- 6:00pm
- The library
Look forward to seeing everyone next week,
Jake.
During the trip, students will visit Bunaken National Park and explore a coral reef with, arguably, the
richest marine biodiversity in the world, and, cruise and snorkel while studying dugong in a sea grass
lagoon and, “turtle city”, a section of reef that attracts huge green sea turtles. During their visit to the
village of Bunaken, students will take part in a community service project to make people aware of the
hazards trash poses to marine mammals. Students will also have the opportunity to study lowland
rainforest ecology and help out with a tree planting service project. In addition to this, there will be a
study of local culture and volcano geology on a visit to crater lakes. Our trip to Sulawesi will be lead
by Thom Henley of In Touch With Nature Education, Inc. You may find more information about
Thom and his organization at http://www.nature-ed.com/.
