ISR Rumbai students will be participating in the Hour of Code coming up on December 12th. What does this mean? Well, for starters, it means that those students participating will spend that hour learning about computer programming by actually coding.
Whose idea is this Hour of Code? Code.org is a non-profit dedicated to growing computer science education by making it available in more schools, and increasing participation by women and underrepresented students of color. Their vision is that every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn computer programming. They believe computer science should be part of the core curriculum in education, alongside other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) courses, such as biology, physics, chemistry and algebra. So, by participating in this Hour of Code we are giving our students some hands-on experience writing code. Who knows, we might inspire them enough to see them publish an app in iTunes! |
